HEARING and balance are complex senses. The audiologists of The HEARING Place work with otolaryngologists, neurologists, family doctors, pediatricians, and physical therapists when needed.
Comprehensive hearing evaluation is where we start with most patients. The inner ear is the only organ to contain two senses (hearing and balance) and so even those with only vertigo get a hearing evaluation since it can give us important information about the inner ear that no other test gives.
We see all ages for hearing evaluation, including children. We have otoacoustic emissions and high frequency tympanometry and many other tests. We understand OSHA and MSHA regulations pertaining to hearing, and we understand West Virginia Workers Compensation.
We evaluate those with vertigo with videonystagmography (VNG) and offer canalith repositioning maneuvers for those with position-provoked vertigo (BPPV).
We know hearing aids and have won the Charleston Newspaper's "Best in the Valley" for hearing aids 4 years in a row. Audiologists are the only professional with college training and experience in hearing aids. If wax needs removed from your ear, we can do that. If wax needs removed from your hearing aid, we can do that.
